[ all things considered, things weren't so bad. sure, it was cold as ice outside, you could barely hear each other over the howling wind, and good luck trying to see past two feet ahead of you, but so far they hadn't come across anyone gravely injured, and that's always a good thing, isn't it? ]
Maybe we should check the network again!
[ weiss attempts to yell her suggestion over the wind, but she can't be too sure the blurred red and yellow smudges a little ahead of her had heard her or not. ]
[ Well, Yang... had heard something, at least, and she's peering over her shoulder at Weiss quizzically. Or maybe she's just trying to squint through the snow, it's hard to say. ]
Whoa--! [ And she's stopping just in time to avoid meeting that same fate (thanks, Ruby), reaching down to grab her sister by the hood and haul her up again. Ah, hoods, great leashes. ]
But she doesn't actually get to finish her question, because then there's a bloodcurdling shriek of something inhuman, and then there's another sleigh swinging by to try to avenge its fallen comrade.
[Ruby's just skidding in the ice, before slamming the point of her scythe into the snow to stop herself--at which point she swings around to fire a few shots at the sled, speeding right on past them.]
Aren't holidays supposed to be full of fun and joy and things that aren't deadly?
[ omg you guys this is what happens when you don't read weiss' pamphlets! >8'(((
right around this time, weiss is getting back up on her feet, spitting out a few bits of snow that she unwittingly swallowed in her jump-dive. ]
None of this is part of it, obviously! [ weiss is just plain insulted now.
as the sled seems to pivot mid-air in an attempt to veer back towards them, she slashes her sword through the air, sending a few streams of ice dust its way. ]
[ But Weiss' pamphlets are usually so long, and really, Yang doesn't think that reading them would have properly prepare her for this, anyway. Right now, she's pushing herself up, shaking a cloud of snow from her hair and sending one fist forward for a fiery shot. Setting the thing on fire (or fiery ice) seems like a sound idea. ]
Fiery ice, huh... Ruby skids to a stop, using her scythe to keep herself in place, and inspects the battlefield (as best she can in this blizzard, Weiss in particular blends in well). But she's gotta give some sort of direction, so after a moment, she grabs her scythe more tightly and--]
Weiss, candy canes!
[As if their stupid battle codes aren't dumb enough, but at least this one is properly holiday themed? Either way, she reaches out for Weiss, and as they planned when they sat down and chatted about these dumb code names for combo attacks, she'll launch her into the air (in a spiral sort of way) so Weiss has a better vantage point to take the thing down.]
at her leader's command, though, weiss bites down any other criticism she has with regards to this place's bad form, and glides along the snow towards ruby through the use of one of her glyphs.
once she reaches ruby, she coils her body up, a spring ready to be sprung, and spares just a moment to meet the other girl's eyes before turning her attention back to the wild-flying sled.
[ Yang will stand guard-- basically just to knock anything flying at her own flying teammate out of the way. Thankfully, it doesn't look like Santa's got projectiles, just really angry steeds.
[And up Weiss goes, launched like one of the many lovely snowflakes that are getting in their eyes and faces right now. Either way, there really aren't any projectiles coming from the sleigh, so Weiss has all day to make her move--nothing's getting to her now that she's in the air.
For her part, Ruby just launches herself forward to help Yang take on those vicious beasties--they can keep the Santa sleigh distracted while Weiss does her Thing.]
[ definitely nothing will get to her while she's in the air, especially not if she's created a platform for herself with one of her glyphs.
except for, you know, another renegade sled coming out of nowhere, which happens to barrel straight into weiss before her glyph can glow its telltale black to hold her in place and
well
awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay she goes with a sharp and startled shriek, her flurry of ice and snowflakes lost to the abyss of the blizzard.
[ Normally, she'd catch her and be a hell of a lot more suave about it than Jaune, but when your white-themed teammate gets sent flying into a blizzard, it's a little hard to find her. ]
[She watches her fly for a brief moment, and then swings around to slam her scythe into said sleigh as it was trying to take advantage of their distraction.]
[ alas.... weiss is but a blip in the flurry of snow that continues to come down at this rate.... try calling out for her, and she'll call out back, but it'll be hard to find her.
especially after that stupid sled crushes her ankle ://// ]

Guys, I think I found some--
[thing.
And then she trips over said something.
Looks like someone already managed to mess up one of those sleighs, because she sure just tripped over it and faceplanted into the snow.]

did someone just fall? weiss peers through the wind and snow, and — yep — sure does look like that black-red blob plopped down. ]
Ruby Rose! [ she stops her way over, taking larger steps in the snow. ] Now is not the time to be playing in the snow!

...Sooo. What did I find, exactly? I'm--
[She squints at it.]
It's covered in snow-- [TIME TO START BRUSHING IT AWAY.]

It looks like one of those things in the amusement park. [ it hadn't been an entirely pleasant experience, t b h ]

[ Well, there were some violent sorts... but she'll stoop to help Ruby clear it off. ]

It's kinda weird, isn't it? [There's just something off about this entire situation, but she can't....quite place her finger on it...
maybe the fact that they're nowhere near the amusement park??? maybe that.]

case in point.
