[ On Christmas Eve, Weiss will get a package delivered to her. The wrapping is crisp, blue-white to the point of near translucence, and shimmery besides. When the ribbon is untied and the box unwrapped, Weiss will find a small card box, jewelry sized, and inside it a pair of snowflake earrings. They’re crystal and winking in the caught light, but small enough to not be ostentatious.
